Flexible Billing Arrangements
As startup lawyers, we recognize that new and early-stage businesses often don't have the financial capacity of more established companies. Therefore, in addition to offering standard hourly rates that are 40-50% lower than attorneys with similar experience at large national law firms, we offer multiple billing options to provide our clients with the best alternatives to meet their legal and budgetary needs.
Flat Fee ProjectsIn addition to our Startup Packages, many legal projects can be performed on a flat or "fixed" fee basis. In fact, it is our preferred method of billing because it provides our clients with certainty and eliminates the billing surprises you can get with traditional firms. We can even offer fixed fee arrangements for more complex legal matters like equity/debt raises, special equity incentive plans and even exit/sale transactions.

Equity in Lieu of FeesIn certain circumstances, we may accept equity or options in a startup venture in lieu of payment of all or a portion of our fees. We evaluate these arrangements on a case-by-case basis depending on the client's anticipated future funding resources and overall business prospects.

Deferred FeesFor certain clients, we may agree to defer all or a portion of our fees for an extended period of time . . . typically until the client completes its first equity or debt financing. We also evaluate these arrangements on a case-by-case basis depending on the client's anticipated future funding resources, legal needs and overall business prospects.
